When the main part of the painting is done, I layer watercolors, mixed with white gouache by splashing on the paper. It is quite a physical activity, you may be sore the next day. Usually there are no less then 8 splashed layers on each of my works. You need to make sure that the paper dries thoroughly before splashing the next layer. If I am not happy with the way the color set I can fix it with the water spray. I never mind the dripping.
